The Time has Finally Come...

Liam is finally having surgery on Friday morning at 10:45am. We went to his pre-op appointments today and we are ready to get this over with!!! It makes me sad to think about him being in pain, but I know this is something we have to do. The surgery will last about one hour and then we will be able to take him home that afternoon after he spends sometime in recovery. Please be praying for his safety and for a quick and speedy recovery!! I will keep you all up to date after his surgery and let you know how it goes!
Also, we had some family photos and Liam's One Year photos taken last Sunday afternoon. They are up on the photographers website if you would like to look at them. To get to them just click on the link below. Once there click on the group of photos on the left to enter the website, then click on clients and enter in lpeck for the password. Mizzou Football and Cory's Mystery Diagnosis!!

This past week has been a little stressful, especially for Cory!! Last Sunday night Cory started feeling congested and was running a fever. He thought he just had a sinus infection and felt a little better Monday. Well, by Tuesday after work he felt a little worse and decided to take Wednesday off and go to the doctor. By that time his fever had come down from 102 to 99 and they thought he was getting over whatever little virus he had so no medicie was prescribed. When I got home from work on Wednesday night I noticed a rash all over Cory's arms, and then he soon discovered more of the rash all over his legs. That night he spiked a fever of 104.8 and we almost made a trip to the ER!! His fever came down to 103 and we decided to wait and make an appointment for Thursday! At the doctor Cory quickly became "the medical mystery" of the office. Three doctors looked him over and were baffled by his symptoms. They did some lab work and had us come back on Friday. That night I searched the internet for what seemed liked hours, and although I did not want to believe it I came across pictures that looked just like Cory's rash! Also, the other symptoms matched his completely!! Finally all the pieces of the puzzle fit, and after confirming my suspicions with the lab work the next day, Cory was finally diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. This means, at somepoint in the last two weeks he was bit by a tick that infected him. Thankfully we caught it pretty quickly and he is now being treated with antibiotics. Thank you to everyone who prayed for him, and we ask everyone to continue to pray for a complete healing, because there can be some permanant side effects from this infection. Cory is feeling better each day, but he still has some pretty stiff and swollen joints and headaches that come and go. Hopefully he will be able to return to work on Tuesday or Wednesday!
Grampy and Grammy Quirk came to visit this weekend and they bought us tickets to the Mizzou game. It was a blowout and we won 52-12!!! Cory was feeling good enough to go to the game, but it really wore him out!! We had fun and hopefully we can go to some more Mizzou games this year!

Some family friends went to the game with us and Liam loved to play with Jamie!!

Liam loved to stare at the cheerleaders!!

I have NO clue what this face is all about!

Well I will say that I have been slacking in the blog updating department. Partially due to the fact that we just got internet yesterday....yes a whole month after moving we finally were reconnected with the cyber world!
We have been very busy bodies the last month. Since we moved I started my new job at Columbia Regional Hospital on Labor and Delivery. Although I will miss my Barnes girls very much I do like my new job a lot and I know it is going to be a good place for me. With me back to work full time, Liam has started day care at a small in-home day care with three other kids ranging in ages from 12months-18months. He is enjoying it a lot and has not fussed once about going. He loves to play with the other kids and I thank the Lord that we were able to find a such a great environment for him to learn and play.
We went home this past weekend to celebrate Liam's birthday with family and friends, and we also threw a suprise party for my Dad's 60th Birthday!! It was so much fun, and although Liam was exhausted by the end he had a great time!! We were glad to see everyone and we want to say thanks for all the great presents!!
Liam's surgery has finally been scheduled. He will be having his hypospadias repaired on October 2nd at the Children's Hospital here in Columbia. It will be an outpatient surgery and I will be so glad to get it done and off my mind.
Well, now that we have internet I will try to keep up with the postings. Hope you all are well!
